Why go for a prepayment meter?

Well, it’s a really useful way to pay for energy before you use it, which means you can keep track of how much you’re spending. Great if you want to stick to an energy budget. You can have either a gas or electricity prepayment meter, or both.

To top-up your meter with credit, your meter needs an electric key or gas card. You can put money on your key or card by going into participating shops and using their ‘top-up terminals’.

Keep topping up

With a prepayment meter, you must keep it topped up, even if you’ve not used any energy. Your meter collects a daily standing charge, which you have to pay even if you’ve been away or not used any gas or electricity at all. This is why it’s really important to decide if having a prepayment meter is the right choice for you and your lifestyle.

If a prepayment meter is no longer right for you, just get in touch to let us know. We’ll make an appointment for an engineer to come and replace it with either a normal credit meter or a Smart meter, at no extra cost to you.
