Making a difference

What drives npower staff to keep smashing fundraising targets and setting new challenges every single year?

Since 2004, we've cycled from coast to coast and pushed ourselves to the limit to climb Kilimanjaro, the world's largest free standing mountain. We've swum in the freezing cold waters of the North Sea and bungee-jumped hundreds of feet into giant coffee cups - all to raise money for Macmillan. Each year the milestones get bigger and so does our determination to top the previous year's record.

Truth be told there's no single reason why we do this. Many of us take part because we've had someone close to us who's been affected by cancer. Some do it for the challenge and others just enjoy being part of a team. But the thing that brings us all together is the desire to make a difference and help those that need it most.

Since the start of our partnership, npower employees have raised over £3.5 million. Macmillan use this money to put towards emergency energy grants for people living with cancer who can’t afford their bill and have nowhere else to turn. So far we’ve managed to help over 20,000 people in this way.
