Rugby in the community
npower and Worcester Warriors working together to inspire the next generation of rugby stars
We're proud to be the Worcester Warriors' principal community partner. With our support, the club reaches over 20,000 young people each year. From rugby, dance and disability sports to developing key educational skills, the Warriors’ community programme makes a big difference to the local community both on and off the pitch.
The programme is based around five key themes: grass roots sport, healthy lifestyles, club and coach education, social inclusion and education. Since 2007, we have worked closely with the Warriors and the English Federation of Disability Sport to develop an inclusive TAG rugby programme, which gives children of all abilities the chance to play. In May 2009, this programme achieved the Parliamentary Citizen Impact Award.
"Worcester Warriors has such an impressive range of opportunities for both able and disabled young people, to get involved in rugby at any level and we're proud of the work we do with their community team. Our vision now is to build on this already solid platform and develop a sustainable community programmme that gives every child an opportunity to try rugby in a safe environment, surrounded by the best coaching staff and facilities in the field of rugby."
Carol Hart, Community Involvement Manager, npower
