The simple way to pay your energy bills
There are many reasons why it makes sense to switch to Direct Debit.
1. Enjoy up to £100 annual Direct Debit discount*
After paying for gas and electricity by monthly Direct Debit for 12 months, you could receive a £100 annual discount*. It's our way of saying thanks for being with us and paying in this way. We will apply the discount to your energy account after 12 months and after each year you continue paying this way.
2. No more surprises
With monthly Direct Debit, you can spread the cost of your energy use over the year. Which means you shouldn't suffer any surprises in your statements - and you shouldn't have to pay the whole amount in one go.
3. We take care of everything for you
Switch to Direct Debit and we'll manage everything for you, making sure you pay just the right amount. You're also protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee**, which ensures you receive a refund if npower, your bank, or building society makes a mistake.
4. Credits and refunds on your account
We give automatic refunds~ on credit balances of £60 or more for each fuel at the time of your annual review. If you have a credit balance of less than £60 on each fuel a refund is available on request. Any refunds must be based on an actual or customer reading, and we'll confirm the refund in your next statement. Remember if you take both fuels from npower, we'll use any credit on one fuel account to clear a debt on the other fuel before any refund will be made.
5. Choose to pay quarterly if you want
If you like, you can choose to pay quarterly by Direct Debit. You could receive a £40 annual discount by paying in this way*, or £10 if you pay in this way for one fuel.

How we set up your Direct Debit
When we set up your monthly Direct Debit, we estimate your next year’s energy usage based on what you used previously. If we don’t have enough usage information for you, we’ll base our estimate on the size of your property and the number of people who live there.
Choose a suitable payment date
Complete the form and select a suitable payment date. Maybe you'd like it just after pay day. Perhaps you'd like the payment to go on the same day as your other Direct Debits. You can pick any date between the 1st and 28th of the month – whichever works best for your budget. Next, just keep paying as normal until we confirm that we've set up your Direct Debit.

Taking care of your Direct Debit
With npower, you can feel confident we're taking care of your account and making sure you're paying just the right amount.
Keeping everything on track - your first statement and review.
We'll review your energy use every six months and send you two statements a year. Your first review statement will show your energy use so far. If you’re using a lot more or less than we expected, considering the time of year, we’ll review your payment amount to ensure your account isn’t in debt or credit at the end of the year~. If we need to change your payment, we'll let you know at least 10 working days before doing so. This gives you enough time to consider your budget and perhaps discuss your new monthly payment with us.
A year of energy with npower – your annual review.
A lot can happen in a year. If your circumstances change, you may not have used the amount of energy we expected. To check you're paying the right amount, at the end of each year, we’ll look at your energy use over the whole 12 months. This involves us considering your payments, account balance, refunds, usage, and forecasting usage for the next 12 months. We'll then simply advise you of the amount you need to pay for the next year.
Balancing your account – refunding and crediting your money.
We give automatic refunds+ on credit balances of £60 or more for each fuel at the time of your annual review. Paying by Direct Debit comes with the confidence of knowing you're in safe hands. Under the Direct Debit Guarantee**, if the amount or date you pay changes, we'll let you know at least 10 working days before we take the payment from your account. What's more, if npower, your bank or building society makes a mistake with your payment, you're guaranteed a full and immediate refund.
Stay up to date with npower statements.
It's only natural to want to know what's happening with your money. Pay by monthly Direct Debit, and you'll receive statements twice a year, clearly showing your energy use and any refunds or credits on your account.
If, like many people, you'd like to help protect the environment and cut down on paper use, you can choose to view your statements online. Using this service means you can view your statements from anywhere in the world with an internet connection – and you'll never lose a statement again.
