Smart meters
Saving energy. Saving money
What does it mean for me?
A smart meter is a modern replacement for your existing gas end electricity meters. It lets you see precisely how much energy you are using from day-to-day so that you can be more efficient and save money.
Why do I need one?
Smart meters provide you and your energy provider with instant information on your energy consumption. This means:
- Cost savings: no estimated bills so you only pay for what you use
- Control: total visibility of how much energy you are using at all times
- Less hassle: meter readings are a thing of the past
- Green: reduced energy usage is better for the environment
But most importantly, this all means lower bills through lower energy consumption.
npower needs to understand the benefits Smart Metering will offer its customers and make sure the right services are in place to take advantage of them. That’s why we’ve already started carrying out trials of the device across the UK. Here’s what some of our customers think so far:
‘This new smart meter has made life so much easier. I reckon I have saved £250 since I had it fitted a couple of years ago because I am not wasting as much energy as before. I know at any given moment how much energy I am using in £s and pence, and I pay for exactly what I use.’
‘The display unit was easy to set up and really easy to use. It is a hassle-free process and I can track and monitor my consumption so I won’t get any nasty surprises when the bill comes in.’
‘The first energy efficiency message I had sent to my display unit reminded me to unplug my mobile phone charger when the phone is fully charged. These regular messages are definitely of real value.’
smartpower is npower's ongoing programme offering intelligent products and solutions to help consumers understand energy, and ultimately helping them to save money and to become more energy efficient.
