Getting involved in sport

Our innovative npower active programme is run in partnership with the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) across three core regions: the North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

The partnership demonstrates our commitment to healthy communities, social inclusion and enabling more opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in a wide range of different sports.

Events cover a multitude of disability sports for participants with a range of physical, learning and sensory impairments.

Athlete, Emily Smart, is an aspiring visually impaired archer who has won a Disability Sport Achievement Award for her brilliant sporting endeavours, including a National Junior title. This is her view of the npower active programme:

Getting into archery has brought me out of my shell. Taking part in competitive sport I've got to meet more people, made more friends and it has definitely made me feel more confident. I can actually talk to people now.
