Generation services is a specialised service which forms part of our r3, risk management programme. Our expert npower Business Development Managers will guide companies that generate their own energy to the best products and packages to suit their appetite for risk and return.
Embedded Generators are companies that generate electricity directly to the distribution network. Generation services work with companies that have generation capacity of 50Kw to 100Mw. These may be companies that generate energy, such as wind farms or large-scale biomass producers, as their primary business. Alternatively a company may generate energy as a by-product of other business activities. For instance, water utility companies may generate renewable energy from hydro for their own use and then sell the surplus back onto the grid. Today, in a response to government incentives, many Embedded Generators produce renewable energy. Some, though, continue to undertake generation activities using fossil fuels.

Generation Services are focused on supporting Embedded Generators with the sale of their energy, ROCs and LECs through access to the UK energy market. However, they are not involved with the physical connection of the generator to the grid, or with providing the technologies to generate the energy.
