How Juice started
Developed through a partnership between npower and Greenpeace in 2001, npower Juice is clean, greener electricity at no extra cost to you.
Greenpeace was working to show industry and the government that there is widespread consumer demand for clean, renewable electricity. Greenpeace developed Juice with npower to enable customers to choose greener electricity and Greenpeace did not benefit financially from npower Juice.

What are the Green Supply Guidelines?
- Ofgem published the Green Supply Guidelines last year – they set out the criteria for 'green' tariffs, including how they are promoted to customers
- Under the new guidelines, suppliers have to prove that their 'green' tariffs have real environmental credentials, by demonstrating that they result in a reduction of caron dioxide emissions
- npower has 2 of the 9 certified tariffs currently on the Green Energy Scheme
- For domestic tariffs like npower Juice and National Trust Green Energy suppliers have to show that each tariff makes a CO2 emissions equivalent reduction of between one tonne and 50kg, depending on the activity that the funds are supporting
- More information on the guidelines is available on the Green Energy Scheme website
