npower Energy Trust
npower’s Energy Trust is an independent trust which has been set up to help npower customers who are struggling to pay for energy debt. The npower Energy Trust operates through funds donated by npower and is impartially administered on our behalf by Charis Grants.
The Trust may be able to help you with:
- Domestic energy debts
- In certain circumstances the Trust can help you to clear other priority debts and purchase essential household items such as a refrigerator or cooker. These are known as Further Assistance Payments, or FAPs. You can apply for such help even if you do not apply for help with your energy charges.
The Trust cannot give you a loan, or help you with bills you have already paid or items you have already bought. The Trust cannot help you with the following:
- Any household item that is not a 'white good'
- Fines for criminal offences
- Overpayments of benefits
- Educational or training needs
- Business debts to central government departments e.g. tax and national insurance
- Catalogues, credit cards, personal loans and other forms of non-secured lending
- Medical equipment, aids and adaptations
- Deposits to secure accommodation
- Holidays
Following a successful application for an award from the Trust, you will be required to pay for all of your energy consumption for a period of six months before the award is applied to your account and some or all of your debt is written off. If any payments are not made, then the award may be withdrawn.
