e-force in Bristol

In the summer of 2008, e3 was taken directly to the doorsteps of small businesses through e-force – a campaign designed to demonstrate how small businesses reduce their carbon footprint and save money on their energy bills.

One company who benefited from e-force was D&D Shoe Repairs in Bristol, saving an estimated £440 on their annual energy bills – equivalent to around 1.4 tonnes of CO₂.

The e-force team managed this in a number of different ways: they changed D&D Shoe Repairs’ light bulbs to energy-efficient ones, fitted a timer for the company’s neon sign, installed draught-proofing measures and even replaced the shop’s radio with an energy-saving wind-up equivalent.
