Cutting carbon with Dynamic Demand

We are part of a project with RLtec, the clean technology company, to trial Dynamic Demand. This is a new technology that allows appliances to automatically adjust their power consumption to account for second-by-second changes in demand on the national grid.

If successful, the technology could potentially eliminate the need for balancing stations. That could add up to 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide savings every year.

A phased trial

In the first phase of the trial, 300 fridges fitted with RLtec’s Dynamic Demand will be sent out to our customers so we can measure how well the technology works in everyday life.

After that, we’ll send out 3,000 fridges and freezers of different types and models, so we can calculate the carbon savings from Dynamic Demand, taking all variables into account.
