Community Investment and Employee Engagement
At RWE npower, we recognise the impact we have on the world we live in. We are committed to carrying out our business with a sense of responsibility for the environment, our customers and employees and for the communities in which we work.
We have an extensive community programme which focuses on three key areas: education, environment and improving health. Our programme ranges from encouraging our employees to volunteer for projects which aim to enthuse young children about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects at school, to raising £6 million for our corporate charity Macmillan. Our Business in the Community ‘CommunityMark’ award recognises the high level to which the work we do benefits both our business and the communities in which we operate.
The success of our business depends on the ability, commitment and dedication of our employees. In order to attract and retain talented people, we must provide a culture where individuals can develop and realise their full potential. This includes ensuring our employees feel engaged with the business through appropriate communication channels with managers, as well as the support offered in the form of volunteering.
In 2012, we have maintained a strong focus on employee engagement which will continue into 2013. Our Learning and Development programmes ensure that employees and potential employees have opportunities to develop and progress at RWE npower.
Health and Safety remains of the utmost priority and we are committed to sharing best practice across the company, maintaining our high standards and striving for improvements.
