Adapting to climate change
As well as the investments we are making to reduce our emissions in response to the challenge of climate change, we are also considering the potential impacts of a changing climate on our own operations.
We were directed by Defra to produce a report to Government assessing the risks to our current coal and gas assets from climate change, and identifying the measures we have in place to manage and adapt to climate change risks.
We have carefully assessed our vulnerabilities to climate change and have reported the result to Government. Whilst climate change does not introduce any new types of risk not already managed by our operating sites, we have put in place a management action plan by which we will use our existing corporate risk management processes to manage the climate change adaptation issues.
Our assessment has been externally reviewed by Cranfield University, DECC and Defra, and Defra have confirmed that it fulfills their requirements.
