Decarbonising electricity generation is an important step towards meeting the UK’s climate change targets. However, we also need to manage electricity demand, by reducing the amount of energy that homes and businesses in the UK consume through energy efficiency and demand management measures.

We’re committed to helping our customers manage their energy use, from offering energy efficiency products and services, to working closely with businesses to help them to understand their energy use and provide innovative ways to manage it effectively.

By 2020, the Government has mandated that every household in the UK should have a smart meter. Smart meters will provide the opportunity to change the way we use and think about energy, and will pave the way for even better demand management in the future.
