What is the Green Energy Certification Scheme?
In February 2010 a new green certification scheme was launched, in line with Ofgem’s Green Supply Guidelines, to label green energy tariffs (certified by an independent panel of experts) as having genuine environmental benefits and going the extra mile to reduce carbon emissions.
How does it work?
npower matches every unit of normal electricity that you use and feeds the same amount, generated from renewable sources, into the electricity network.
When you choose National Trust Green Energy for your electricity supply, npower donates £15 to the National Trust Green Energy Fund, which invests in low carbon initiatives at Trust sites. The National Trust Green Energy Fund will also receive £15 every year thereafter as long as you remain a customer of National Trust Green Energy.*
Plus, if you are a National Trust Green Energy customer and also sign up for npower gas supply, we will donate an additional £15 to the National Trust Green Energy Fund and £5 every year thereafter as long as you remain a customer of National Trust Green Energy.*
The Fund is used to invest in low carbon initiatives at National Trust properties in England and Wales. These projects have included replacing oil fired boilers with biomass ones and installing air and ground source heat pumps.
This tariff is available on a variety of payment methods including Direct Debit, cash, cheque or pay as you go if you have a prepayment meter.
