Teaching Resources

Through the power of football, help your students kick off their careers, develop their employability skills and experience what it’s like to apply for a job by using our three lesson plans and resources.

Lesson plans and resources

Lesson Plan One: Enter the What’s Your Goal? competition (PDF)

Use this stand alone plan so your students can enter Competition 1 – Spend an amazing day with a football mentor, by identifying the job role they wish to apply for, assessing their skills and writing a convincing application form.

You are welcome to adapt this lesson plan if you wish your students to enter Competition 2 – Work Experience Placement.

Please familiarise yourself with the terms and conditions that apply to the ‘Spend an Amazing Day with a mentor’ competition

Using the students’ work from Lesson Plan 1, use the following lesson plans to further develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of football’s ‘world of work’.

Lesson Plan Two: Football’s more than the Game (PDF)

Investigating The Football League as an organisation and identifying and understanding a selection of job roles and a ‘typical’ working day for these professionals.

Lesson Plan Three: Interview skills (PDF)

Experiencing what it’s like to be interviewed for their selected job or to be the interviewer and giving feedback to the candidate on their interview.
