The farm is primarily dairy, but also has seven acres given over to potato production
What were the problems?
- Many fluorescent tubes were of the 1.5" diameter type, which are less efficient than the 1" diameter tubes.
- Lights in the cow sheds remain on for long periods but are of the older style fluorescent fittings, thus not very efficient by today’s standards.
- The bulk milk tank temperature was set below what is required, so is wasting energy un-necessarily.
- The condensers were clogged up with leaves, leading to inefficient operation.

- Replace existing fluorescent tubes with 1" diameter tubes.
- Replace existing fittings with modern high frequency ones.
- Raise the bulk milk tank temperature by 1°C.
- Clean the condenser.
