Renewable energy
As an organisation committed to a sustainable environment, SPI offer a wealth of experience in the design and installation of low carbon renewable energy heating solutions for both commercial and domestic customers. These include:
- Solar panels
- Solar photovoltaic
- Ground source heat pumps & Air Source Heat Pumps
- Wood Burning Stoves / Boilers
- CHP
- Domestic wind turbines
- Biomass
In addition to installing energy efficient heating systems and renewable energy technologies, SPI have also put our knowledge and advice into practical use within our own organisation. Examples of this include:
- Dual flush flushing mechanisms have been installed in all SPI cloakroom facilities. This has substantially reduced overall water consumption.
- SPI have installed motion sensor lighting in all kitchen and cloakroom facilities within our Head Office. During the first 3 months of this we saw a month on month reduction in electrical consumption in excess of 10%.
- SPI, in conjunction with a number of our partners, have a commitment to, wherever possible, only using materials that come from sustainable sources. Locally, SPI endeavour to have as little negative impact upon the environment as possible, and therefore recycle as many materials as possible. We are also in discussions with a number of our Supply Chain Partners to discover ways in which packaging and transportation can be reduced to further lessen the environmental impact of our activities.
The above actions were contributed significantly towards helping SPI achieve ISO14001 accreditation.
We are also working with a number of clients to assist them in reducing their Carbon Footprint and energy consumption. Activities include carrying out a lighting study of their offices. By better design of their lighting system, we can reduce the electricity consumption and the associated carbon footprint, whilst simultaneously reducing the annual cost of electricity. This contributes to making the working environment a more comfortable place for all staff.
