npower Juice: green energy at no extra cost to you

Feel good about the energy you use

Since the launch of Juice, our green energy tariff, in 2001 we’ve raised more than £2 million for the Juice fund which has helped to support renewable energy projects all over the country.

  • Switch your electricity to Juice which is the same price as our standard electricity tariff.
  • All dual fuel customers who pay by Direct Debit are also eligible for our £100 Direct Debit discount.

What's npower Juice?

npower Juice is npower's certified green energy tariff with electricity that is matched to 100% renewable sources, it costs the same as our standard electricity, and there's no extra cost to you as there is no premium to pay.

Plus, for every person who takes npower Juice a financial contribution will be invested by npower on our Juice customer’s behalf, to support community based renewable energy projects. To date, with your help over £2million pounds has been invested to support worthwhile projects which can help provide a real environmental benefit.

npower Juice is a tariff with genuine environmental benefits, in line with OFGEM's (the Government's energy regulator) Green Supply Guidelines. The award comes from the new and independent Green Energy Supply Certification Scheme (GESCS) so with npower Juice, you can relax knowing you're helping to do your bit for the environment.

How does it work?

npower matches every unit of normal electricity that you use and feeds the same amount, generated from renewable sources, back into the electricity network.

This tariff is available on a variety of flexible payment methods including Direct Debit, regular payment schemes, cash, cheque or pay as you go if you have a prepayment meter.

£100 Direct Debit Discount

If you pay for your electricity and gas with npower by Direct Debit you could enjoy our £100 Direct Debit discount at the end of 12 months, you’ll see your discount on your first statement after this date.

How do we source our fuels?

At npower we produce and source electricity for all our customer needs. As part of our supply commitment OFGEM, our regulatory body requires us to provide details of where the fuel comes from that is used to make our electricity, achieving compliance to Electricity Supply Licence Condition 21. The table below applies to customers supplied under the following Npower Ltd, Npower Yorkshire Supply Ltd, Npower Northern Supply Ltd and Npower Direct Ltd.

Between 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011 the electricity npower supplied was from the following fuel sources.

Green Energy Certified Fuel Mix

The weighted average of the carbon dioxide emitted in the production of electricity from each fuel source is 509 grams per kWh.

The radioactive waste, being fuel burnt in the reactor to be subsequently discharged as spent fuel, is 0.0001 grams per kWh.

The figures for the carbon dioxide emissions and radioactive waste use the actual percentages (and the factors provided by DECC, details of which can be found on the DECC website).

Key information on our fuel mix disclosure obligation, renewable obligations and CERT information can be found here.

npower Juice: 100% renewable energy at no extra cost to you. npower matches every unit of normal electricity you use and feeds the same amount, generated from renewable sources, back into the electricity network. We estimate your Juice consumption regularly, which helps us make sure that, at the end of the year we’ve provided enough clean, renewable energy to cover what you’ve used. Simple. In addition, for every Juice customer we have, npower contributes a donation of£10/person to the Juice Fund for every year our customers continue to use Juice. The Juice fund is then used to support community based renewable generation projects, which provide a real environmental benefit.

Where customers pay by monthly Direct Debit: With npower Juice your monthly Direct Debit payments will be calculated to include the annual Direct Debit discount, on the assumption you will meet the conditions of those discounts set out on this page.

If for any reason you do not meet the conditions you will not receive the Direct Debit discount and your monthly payments may not be sufficient to meet your estimated consumption. As a result you may have a debit balance to pay.

Your annual Dual Fuel discount: If you pay by Direct Debit continuously for 12 months (either by making monthly payments or by settling your quarterly bill in full by variable Direct Debit) we’ll give you a discount off your bill (£100 if you buy both electricity and gas, £50 if you buy just gas or £40 if you buy just electricity). Your discount will be credited to your account on or before the last day of the 12th month after becoming eligible and then on or before the same last day of each year you continue to pay this way. Dual fuel customers must pay for both fuels in one combined payment and accept a combined dual fuel bill or statement to receive a Dual Fuel discount. Certain tariffs are excluded. Subject to change.
