Helping people
"I'm thrilled with the work that npower's Health Through Warmth scheme has done for me. With my new boiler I feel like I've been wrapped in a warm blanket."
Working together
Help us identify people with cold and damp related illness as a result of poor living conditions, and refer them to the scheme
Health Through Warmth
Working together for warmer homes and better health
The Health Through Warmth (HTW) scheme was set up by npower in 2000 in partnership with the NHS and National Energy Action (NEA).
Clients are referred by care & repair or home improvement agency case workers and other community workers who have either attended locally based HTW awareness sessions or their organisations are working together with us. Vulnerable people are often the least likely to seek assistance but by linking up with existing community workers they can be more easily identified enabling practical help and advice to be provided.
People with cardiovascular and respiratory disease are most likely to have their health adversely affected by cold living conditions.
